PAKISTAN | A car bomb in Peshawar, Pakistan, kills at least 95 people and injures more than 200 others in the city's deadliest attack of 2009.

FRANCE | Businessman Arcadi Gaydamak and 35 others are convicted of involvement in a scandal surrounding the illegal sale of arms to Angola.Together with French magnate Pierre Falcone he was convicted by French court in organizing illegal weapons trade in Angola (tanks, helicopters and artillery pieces ) during the civil war in 1993-1998 to a total amount of $790 million USD in violation of the Lusaka Protocol. He was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison. He is currently hiding in Russia.
