FRANCE | Elections for who will control the regional councils (regions above) will be held today (Rd. 1) and next week (Rd. 2). Early voting shows the Socialist Party getting 28-30% of the vote, with President Sarkozy’s ruling center-right UMP Party gaining about 26-27% of the vote. Meanwhile, the far-right Front National gained about 12% of the vote.
